It’s our birthday today!

Today is our five-year anniversary. Wahoo! Just like a mother whose child is five years old, I wonder how it’s possible that our blog is five years old today. How can that be?

I’m amazed, blessed, and just a little overwhelmed by the response to this blog.

Kids & Divorce set out to educate children’s ministers and to help single parents. Along the way, the Kids & Divorce blog has also been used to minister to single parents in your churches and train church leaders and DivorceCare, Single & Parenting, and DC4K leaders, along with group leaders from other programs.

During this past five years

  • We’ve had 188,696 views.
  • Facebook has been a big help to promote blog posts.
  • Twitter has been good to us in the past year, with the uptick growing.
  • Pinterest interest is growing daily.

The most-read post in one day was “Single parents share their 10 loneliest moments,” with more than 2,100 views.

The overall most popular post, which continues to be viewed every week, is “Effects of divorce on the 6, 7 and 8 year old child,” with more than 9,000 views.

The Kids & Divorce blog appears in several other organizations blogs and magazines, such as Church Leader, KidzMatter, Children’s Ministry Magazine, DivorcedMoms, and the Kid Ministry Collective, and on several children’s ministers’ closed sites on Facebook.

A “big shout-out” to all of the people who make this blog possible and work tirelessly, making it a success. The Church Initiative staff is top notch at making the Kids & Divorce blog shine.

I often hear from people who read the blog. I believe the most endearing comment came in 2015. I want to share it with you. It blessed me immensely.

Bless you for this blog. I often read this, and it is awesome to see the children of divorce be acknowledged. It is often a tender subject a lot of people don’t know how to approach, and I appreciate that you have spread awareness on this sensitive topic.

I am often moved how spot on you are in addressing our stories. Isaiah 1:17: “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” Chris 4:47 a.m.

Thank you to each of you who read and pass along the blog to others. Thanks also to the many of you who email me with questions and topics you want discussed. You make my job exciting.
